We invite you to join us on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 16:00 KST with speaker Dr. Stacy Carolin from the University of Oxford, UK. This online speleothem lecture series at the IBS Center for Climate Physics, Busan, South Korea welcomes participation from colleagues from all career paths.
Dr Stacy Carolin is an experienced scientist in speleothem-based climate reconstructions. Her PhD thesis (2014) focused on using Borneo stalagmites to resolve Indo-Pacific Warm Pool rainfall variability over the last glacial period, advised by Prof Kim Cobb and Prof Jess Adkins. She is an expert in speleothem geochronology and currently manages Gideon Henderson’s U-Th lab at the University of Oxford. Throughout her career she has worked with research teams on speleothem projects in Borneo, Iran, the Yucatán Peninsula, and northwest Africa. In this talk she will present recent results from the Mulu/Buda caves (Borneo) research team, with a focus on the use of a Borneo stalagmite to reconstruct past ENSO variability around 4 ka, work led by former PhD student Chris Theaker.
