June-Yi Lee, Professor at Pusan National University and the IBS Center for Climate Physics (ICCP), was awarded the 30th Science and Technology Excellence Award 2020 in a field of science by Korean Federation of Science & Technology Societies (KOFST). This award is bestowed upon those who have published excellent research with the highest recognition to contribute to the advancement of science and technology and to support scientists for their creative research activities. Since 1991, KOFST has been recommending excellent papers published in national academic journals in the previous year from more than 300 academic societies related to science and technology. Her paper titled ‘Influence of boreal summer intraseasonal oscillation on the 2016 heat wave over Korea’ published in Atmosphere, Korean Meteorological Society, was selected through a strict screening.
Due to the COVID-19, the award ceremony was held in Seoul, South Korea, during the Korea Science and Technology Annual Meeting on July 3, 2020, via live streaming.
